The Digium AEX 2400 is a full-length PCI-Express 1.0-compliant modular base board that acts as a host device for quad port station (FXS) and quad port trunk (FXO) modules, and is designed for connecting analog telephone stations and analog POTS lines through a PC. Combining the best in performance and price, the Digium AEX2400 utilizes an innovative bus-mastering interface chip found in millions of PCs the world over, as well as Digium VoiceBus technology, and it eliminates the need for a separate channel bank and T1 interface cards. Using Digium's Asterisk software and standard PC hardware, the AEX2400 allows the creation of telephony environments with advanced features that typically characterize high-priced, sophisticated business telephone systems.

The quad port S400M station (FXS) and X400M trunk (FXO) modules that attach to the AEX2400 are interchangeable, so any combination of interfaces is possible. It supports up to six quad port station (FXS) or trunk (FXO) modules for a total of 24 lines. 1024 taps (128 milliseconds) of echo cancellation is available on both station (FXS) and trunk (FXO) interfaces with the optional VPMADT032 hardware echo cancellation module. Scalability does not present problems with this Digium solution; simply add additional AEX2400 cards or additional quad port FXS / FXO modules.
